It is the sincere hope of the founders and sponsors that the SharePointGovernance.org Site will become a respected and valued source of content for the SharePoint community. We reserve the right to exclude participants who abuse the purpose or resources of this Site.
§ The purpose of this Site is to promote mutual success (and awareness of complications) in deploying and using SharePoint through community participation
o Content submissions will be welcome based on relevance and utility to others
o Content should be considered based on the following simple question: Will it help another user or company to save time, avoid issues, or follow a straighter path?
§ Appropriate usage
o All participants must avoid commercialism or self-promotion
o Attribution is critical; any content which is based on another source or author MUST be identified in the “Content Author” metadata
§ The underlying philosophy is encouragement
o Respect the content and motives of others when reviewing or rating content
o The range of experience of Site users will vary and there must be tolerance for the comments of those less experienced
o Fact-based contrary views are encouraged based on participant experience
o Contentious or belittling attitudes are not welcome
§ Uploads
o As a Site which needs to provide good performance for many users, the following must be observed
§ Size: we ask that a 3 megabyte limit be observed
o File Types
§ Must be common, e.g. PDF, Microsoft Office, text, mp3 (brief!)
o Version
§ Content providers should consider a lowest common denominator effect and use Office 2003 for Microsoft-based products
§ This is Business Release 1
o By this we mean that not all potential functionality has been included in the initial release
o We expect to work with the SharePointGovernance.org community to develop the most important additions and enhancements to the Site
